Latest Kid Read: Shiloh

The kids and I truly loved this book. It brought up some really good themes to talk about regarding decisions of right and wrong and how it is not always black and white.  In the case of this book, keeping a mistreated hunting dog that belonged to someone else in town to safeguard it from abuse was techniqually wrong because the dog would surely come to its death under its owners care or miscare. But there were no rights set up for dogs in this situation and the dog kept coming to this little boy on his own regard so what was one to do? We loved the book and the grownup discussions it introduced for my kids was priceless.
