Latest Read with Daughters: Who Was Maria Tallchief?

My younger daughters and I loved reading this book. Maria Tallchief was an inspiring person and artist. She was considered America's first major prima ballerina. She was also the first Native American to hold the rank, and is said to have revolutionized ballet.  I love how she found a passion and worked hard at it all her life. Even after she stopped dancing on the stage she continued up until her death at age 88 to teach herself a ballet lesson daily. Also, after performing on stage she found a new passion in teaching and raising her daughter. She didn't let others perceptions of her define her or what she could become. She worked hard and believed in her vision. Great message, lovely read.
